How TMS Works

Innovative TMS treatment has been proven beneficial in treating a number of mental health conditions, thanks to its safety and efficacy.
Certain areas of the brain require stimulation to help with depression. Magnetic pulses enhance neurotransmitter activity in the prefrontal cortex.

What to Expect

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation sessions last approximately 18 minutes each and take place in a comfortable setting. TMS uses magnetic waves to activate certain areas of the brain. During a TMS session, patients do not require anesthesia. An electromagnetic coil is placed against the patient’s forehead, and small, electromagnetic pulses are generated through the coil. The pulses pass through the skull and stimulate the area of the brain thought to regulate mood.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or Deep TMS, has been shown to safely and effectively alleviate the symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), particularly those patients who have not achieved sufficient improvement from traditional OCD treatment options.

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

Deep TMS works by utilizing a magnetic field that manages to directly reach wider and deeper brain regions, regulating the neural activity of brain structures related to depression – specifically the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC).
